Tournament Series at UB
To date we’ve gone over the UB bonus and how to earn it, the benefits of downloading the UB software, and information about RAI$E, their VIP program. For today’s topic, I am going to discuss the tournaments hosted by UB, in particular the UB Online Championship (UBOC) series. This past January the fourth UBOC was hosted, featuring 18 events over twelve days.
The people that were able to deposit in early January were lucky to have the chance to clear their UB bonus during the events because they were able to play for a total prize pool of over $4 million. However, you weren’t left out if you couldn’t afford the large buy-ins because UB offered Mini-UBOC, a series that featured the same tournaments as the regular UBOC but offered buy-ins under $30.
While the series had mostly Hold Em events, UBOC ran different types of poker as well. There were two Pot Limit Omaha events, three mixed game events, and one HORSE event. Regarding the Hold Em variety, there were standard full ring games, rebuy events, short handed tournaments, and even a heads-up contest. There was also a special UB bonus to earn: a special watch was given to each event’s champion to commemorate the big victory.
The lowest buy-in in the series was $109 and the highest was $2,600 while event guarantees ranged from $30k to $1 million. MTT poker pros such as Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth were asked to host the events. The largest first prize won in an event was $361k which was won in the Deepstack No-Limit Hold Em 6-max tournament. That’s a lot of money!
With every series UB hosts, the prizes have only gotten bigger and better, so the future for UBOC looks bright. I can’t argue that waiting for the next series announcement won’t be fun, but at least it will give you time to make that UB download if you haven’t already done so. If you’re not already playing poker hands on this particular site, feel free to check out my previous posts for information on why it could benefit you to do so. I’ll post again in a couple weeks – see you then!
